Attention New Members and those new registering!
We had a lot of problems with spammers and bot attacks with the stock measures provided by the software. The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username.
If you come back on and your login does not work retry with your username without the 7.

Thanks for joining us from the administration.

There seem to be a few of a seasonal nature... Since it's been chilly, it seemed a great time to make a nice pot pie. Rounded up all the ingredients right away except the crust. (I'm not hard core enough to make mine from scratch.)

Wally didn't have them so I checked at the Co-op gro this morning... none there, either. No worries, I'll put biscuits on top instead of a crust.

Then I noticed turks are up to $2.00/pound. Weren't we complaining they were 79 cents a pound last year? Ah, well - older daughter is putting on the feed bag this year. She said the turk was $45!

My plan B - wild turks! Of course, when I crunch the numbers, it's still $13 + gasoline money per turk. SW

Last store bought turk for us was in October- 45.00 for about an 8lb young bird.
Children's cold and flu over the counter medications are in short supply- short enough for the government to intervene and order them to be imported.
Lettuce has been in short supply for the last few months, and there have been "temporary" shortages of bread and flour.
Gonna hafta do a bit of grocery shopping today.
Prices are well up on just abaout everything and still rising :boo:

I don't dare try to figure out the cost per bird of grouse hunting this year~ not with the price of gas and distances travelled, just for starters....

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

bought a TurkBreast last month, just a small one, not sure what I paid, (forgot,,,) but it was reasonable,

cooked it ate it already,

Steve, I have a relatively quick and easy Gluten Free pie crust recipe if you need it,

rice flour
Tapicoa starch
Corn Starch
shortening
egg
vinegar

and a few other things I am for getting,

crust is not so much flaky, since wheat flour/gluten gives you the flake, but it is crumbly and tasty,

did a couple Bourbon Chocolate Pecan pies last month using that recipe
