Went shooting on Thursday. Did pretty well but upon getting home discovered that I am getting short on small pistol primers. (less than 300) Thought I would go over to the just opened Field & Stream by me. I wandered around, finally finding the primers. OMG the prices. When did CCI start putting gold and platinum in their primers? F&S proudly had a $49.99 price on all of the CCI primers and the Winchester primers weren't much better. :-x :ow: I won't be going back there any time soon. Cabelas has CCI primers on line for $29.99 a thousand. I'll go to the B&M location and see if they'll honor that price in the store.

Wally here has primers for 32 - 35 & usually a fairly good supply. I've been able to buy 1000 whenever I want lately. SW

I went to Cabelas and they did indeed honor the on line price without so much as a raised eyebrow. :D I went ahead and bought 2 boxes. The rate I'm going through .38 special at the indoor range, I'll go through these in short order. :lol

Field and Stream down by wonderfully financially endowed Springboro, Ohio has prices even the overpriced Gander Mountain in the workers paradise of Huber Heights would wince at. I had a $10 coupon for any purchase over $25 and found it practically worthless as their markups were insane in any and all categories. I'm taking my money to smaller local places or hold my nose and go to the gun show for $8. Eee Gads, Field & Stream made me say moderately nice things about Gander Mountain.

Best Regards,

Mark

BTW, they are RAT BASTARDS, get it right.

Best Regards,

Mark

Accordingly, they could be considered cheese weasels as well. They would not allow me to use the coupon on any ammo purchase. I left the ammo and coupon on the counter and left immediately after the cashier informed me of the very fine print on it.

Oh, they seem laid out like the Cabella's in Columbus. Even the stuffed moose and deer and in the back and center of the store from the entrance. Simply sickening.

i tried - i really did - im not a fan of gander these days - i see all too many 'new hunters' with 'new rifles' at the range these days [hunter sight -in time] who claim they were boresighted at added cost , the rifle is seldom on paper at 25 and often the scope is loose in the mount , sell a lot of ammo tho - just to get sighted in ,

ive not a lot good to say about others as well but that name is the foremost

Gander chased me for two years after they opened their Geneva,IL. store to come work for them in the smithing dept. Every thing those so called smiths did in that shop was messed up like Mike says. I ended up with more work from them than working for them.
They mounted a Malcolm type scope on a guys Sharps replica badly, then somehow they broke the buttstock and ruined the bluing on the barrel near the receiver, nice job guys! What do you do for an encore?
They finally removed all the smiths from that store and from the Joliet,IL. store. I won't even bother going into the store anymore, extremely high prices and piss poor service.

Citizen,

This is a somewhat family oriented forum. therefore I refrain from calling these people what I would really, really like to call them. Burner has some pithy words for them as well. :m60:

Maybe they should rename it to "Field and Scream" or "Reeled and Screamed".

Another store I was in a few years ago, only because we won a gift card from the FNRA, is Fin, Feathers and Fur over by Mansfield. Higher prices than Cabela's on ammo and components. The safe we ended up with was priced at $1200 and personally I don't think it is worth $600 compare to the other one I have.
