Big tree next door split from all the wind we've been having & had to be cut down yesterday. Crew showed up early & it took them all day to get it cut up & hauled off.

Whole neighborhood - including wifey - pulled a chair up to the nearest window & watched the proceedings all day. Pretty exciting stuff! ;)

But it could be worse - we don't have cops arresting drug dealers on our street. Only law enforcement issue was when the young woman on the corner got hauled off to jail - where she still sits.

She got like 10 tickets for her dog running loose. It wasn't a bad dog - it would dig under the fence and roam the streets. Well, she failed to appear for all the tickets & got arrested on a bench warrant. Posted bond for that but didn't bother to show up for court.

Which didn't impress the judge - she got almost a year in the county slammer. Hopefully she takes the hint.

Her dad has the dog - I see him walking it in the mornings. Dog's all happy. Her house is standing empty - her dad comes over & mows the yard once in a while.

Now we're back to boring until the next tree tries to fall over. SW

sounds a little like my neighborhood cept for the gal in jail - none of those i know of , i kinda like it that way , i would rather read of problems in exotic places ,

wish the rest of town was not as it is , been going down hill since the mid 90s , before that i could go anywhere any time of day or night with no issues , now there are areas i wont go after dark , and some id not go in daytime , issues just waiting to happen ,

Didn't have a tree fall but my metal shed got blown off the base and across the fence to the alley to the north. Wind blowing about 25 or 30 mph and trying to put a tarp over the contents was sure fun. That was a week or so ago.

I plan on rebuilding with wood.

Mike I hear you on the dead wood drops as I have a lot of oaks with dead branches that are always getting blown off.

Rad , do you burn yours ? i generally pile it up by my fire pit and as the summer progresses most of it gets burned , looks like a lot of fires this summer , my wife's business produces lots of cardboard as well so whatever does not get reused or repurposed gets put on the fires to add starter and maintainer as well as flames to light the area , its pretty dark down in that area of the lawn unless we get a full moon ,

good thing the grandkids are just at that age of wanting to roast wieners and marshmallows , and chase fireflys

Last year I turned my burn spot under and started to chip/shred all of the small branches. I am working of trying to get some kind of electric start for my chipper as it is getting hard for this old man to rope start it That heavy flywheel is a bear to turn over.
