These two British fellows went together and bought the T-54 tank shown from ebay for $37,000. While cleaning it up, they looked to see what was rattling around a fuel container and found $2.5 million worth of gold bars!

Apparently, the gold was looted from Kuwait during Gulf war 1. The article goes on to say the gold was "turned over to police".

Wait a minute!! Turn gold over??? A Brit friend on another site told me things like that are considered "treasure" and must be surrendered to the Queen's Coroner.

Tell ya what... I got my hands on $2.5 million in gold bars, the Queen's Coroner can go pound sand in a rat hole! With vigor!!

I'd be dusting off the old passport & catching a train to Switzerland! SW

Here's another surprise involving a tank. Fishermen kept losing hooks & lures on something solid... - divers eventually looked and found this T-34/76.

Pics like this are fairly common - what caught my attention are the all steel "locomotive wheels". Road wheels on tanks had a rubber rim, but that was omitted when there was a severe shortage of rubber in the dark days of WW2. Available rubber was saved for aircraft tires.

Those and the single large hatch hint this was made in the Stalingrad Tractor Factory before the machinery was shipped off to be part of "tankograd" at Chelyabinsk. Tanks were made at the Stalingrad plant even when workers could clearly hear sounds of close combat.

Now - dry it out - change the oil & away you go! SW
