Pearl Harbor day. Nebr has (or probably *had* by now) Pearl Harbor survivor license plates. Dad could have had lifetime free plates on his ride but wanted nothing to do with them. I get that.

Preppy daughters call this "slap a Jap for Pappy day". works for me! SW

i never forget - i told everyone i saw today at the gun club , my father was working in the aircraft plants in calif with his high school friend , they were on the road home tonight in a snowstorm , enlisted right after , changed their lives and in a round-a-bout way mine , dad served in the pacific , we never forgot this or VJ day in our home , very little was overlooked in my youth , sometimes understated but never forgotten , lots went unsaid

I never forget Dec 7th. Both for the Pearl Harbor attack and my Mom's birthday. RIP Mom, RIP all the solders, sailors and airmen who lost their lives that day.
Less than three months later we lost my Uncle Fritz on Bataan 04/07/42. Still do not know where he is buried.

Dad's birthday was the 7th Dec as well. By '41 he would have already been in England about 6 months. Bomber crew training was definitely not an over-night thing....

yes , bomber training was not an overnight thing , my dad was in B29s they did not make it to the front till fall of 44 , my mother followed him across the country till he completed the training , the home front is a whole different topic when it comes to this - not this one - but they too had their moments we should remember ,

the bataan march left many i knew without loved ones or left them with highly disabled loved ones , we concentrated our efforts in europe first , it cost many in the pacific a great deal , in hind sight - it worked out in the big picture , it means very little of those that lost loved ones on corrigador and in the bataan march , and so many other remote places of that time , we would think nothing of defending them today but back then they were remote bases ,
