Attention New Members and those new registering!
We had a lot of problems with spammers and bot attacks with the stock measures provided by the software. The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username.
If you come back on and your login does not work retry with your username without the 7.

Thanks for joining us from the administration.

Almost 35 years to the day I started, I is now "O"fficially unemployed.
Started June 1st 1985, and last day on paper is May 31, 2020.
Turned in my keys and uniforms Friday morning, went home and had a bit of a cry.

The separation was not amicable, or desired on my part.
I was not the only one disposed of in such ignoble fashion- there are 4 others in the same boat.
Had to resort to labour court for final pay settlement. The original offer came no where near close to reflecting on reality. Do believe that age had everything to do with it.

I am none too sure of how things are going to go.
Gonna fish for a couple of weeks first, and then try to figure things out.
If I could have hung in there 18 more months, I would have had full retirement...

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

That sucks!! Some places do that to cut down on paying rightful benefits. Can you sue the company for age discrimination? SW

It would be a bit of a bear to prove, even though two of the five are past 70.
Four of us were working normally and quite reliably when the axe dropped.
The guy with the serious health problems was actually a year or 2 younger than I.

My severe hearing problems had about 45% of the negativity on my case.

I think you hit the nail on the head~ it all boils down to money.

I have 16 weeks coming to me, and about 6 weeks of vacation time.
I've been socking away 3% of base pay in the company retirement acct. since 2012, and that should be worth about another 18 G. Definitely not big money. What's there could conceivably carry us for almost a year with watchful spending....

In the meantime, we have to wait for court approval of the improved settlement.

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

im so sorry to hear this , it seems not much to ask to get to full retirement , ive been there twice now and am settling into the rest of my life now , all i can say is make the best of it and find something to supplement , i am not a good one to offer anything as ive always worked and cannot imagine not , but im in that same process as we speak ,

todays announcement was that the gunclub i work for was sold , the new owner is keeping us as he evaluates what changes he plans to make , i met him today , no read on my future yet , what will be will be ,
