We had a lot of problems with spammers and bot attacks with the stock measures provided by the software. The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username.
If you come back on and your login does not work retry with your username without the 7.

Thanks for joining us from the administration.

i started in the advertising department in the summer of 65 and then went to the product engineering department till 71 ,
my grandfather worked there as a machinist then as a product engineer , my father worked there as a machinist before the war and then as a methods engineer after the war [he was VP of methods engineering when he retired ] i renovated those main offices in the late 70s when i got out of college and worked for a major general contractor in the area ,

ive seen nearly every square inch of those old buildings -office , brass foundry & iron foundry , as well as the facility on south main , including the basement areas of that original building , wonder whats down there now ?

i had occasion to look some things up when my childhood friends obit was sent to me this week , some memories are vivid others you need to revisit ,

this was a side note ,
another class mate of mine , Les Mark

the scott cawalti mentioned in the narrative was a good friend of bob waller the author of the bridges of maddison county - both were friends of my mothers and scotts younger sister was another classmate of mine ,

i tried to put active links in but i guess you gotta cut and paste .................

to tie these together it would be important to note that these covered bridges are located around the town of winterset iowa ,

it was a birthplace home of john wayne ,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winterset,_Iowa

and some of the location for the dick vandyke movie 'cold turkey' ,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_Turkey_(film)

and ......when i was in college i worked for the architect that was commissioned to spruce up the city square for the upcoming bicentennial festivities , i worked with a great old photographer to document what existed at that time , research what had been there at the centennial , and produced all the drawings for renovations for putting it back to some semblance of its former life , worked through a few of the renovations as well , so - to bring it back to full circle this is part of what i did after i left Viking pump co

One of my first jobs was in a foundry~ manually unloading box cars filled with casting sand.
It came in 100 lb bags, and the r/r never saw fit to pallet load them.
I doubt if anyone would work like that today. It would be considered un-safe work...

Regards,

Doc Sharptail
