Thanks Steve and all! It's sort of a special one- today, I am Oh-Fish-Al-Lee! a geezer. Now to check to see if there's a discount for us on the grouse hunting stamp... Those of you who wish to celebrate with me, please do. Crack your root beer, snort your shots, light your stogie, eat your ice cream... what ever it is that you do. Me, I'm about to have the first half arabica/ half colombian of the day, which is my current method. I also plan to sneak off for a fish or two after the appropriate calls have been made and taken... Regards, Doc Sharptail |

Alright! Us geezers get to grouse hunt without a license! Just checked the regs yesterday and found this out. Now to convince them to do the same for fishing and deer tags Regards, Doc Sharptail |

Our various regs are a mish-mash of this, that, and the other thing. Seniors can fish without a license, but are only able to take "conservation" limits of fish. Those of us who want full limits of fish have to pay the fee for a "full" license. The way it should work is that we pay the conservation license fee, and receive the full license. Deer and turkey licenses have no break that I know of (so far) as far as licensing and fees go. This years regs have not been printed yet for hunting. I have looked up on-line fortunately. I'll check back in a week. The regulations printed pamphlet is a lot easier for me to use. Regards, Doc Sharptail |

Most common grouse around here are Ruffed Grouse. There a few spruce hens around that are a bit green tasting. There are also Sharptailed Grouse which seem to be approaching the upswing of their availability cycle. There are Hungarian partridges around too, but they seem to prefer open country. One week to opener... Regards, Doc Sharptail |
