A friend in Europe convinced me to try making it & so far -so good. It's very low alcohol content "bread beer" - 1% max if consumed within 3 days.
I made half the recipe shown. My friend also said forget raisins and don't burn the toast.
https://natashaskitchen.com/angelinas-e ... as-recipe/Bring 5 qts water to a boil, add 5 slices toasted dark rye bread & let stand overnight. In the morning add 2 cups sugar and a package of yeast. Leave stand for 6 hours, stirring occasionally - then bottle. Pop bottles work best since they're intended to hold pressurized liquid.

We'll try it tonight when older daughter comes over. It's essentially very low alcohol content bread beer - quite popular in Eastern Europe.
