Even after all these years I still don't care much for 'em. The dog hates the noise, too.

I don't mind colorful displays like Roman candles, but a long string of poppers... not so much. SW

I like the starburst displays a lot.
The fire ball poppers not so much- they seem to operate fairly low to the ground as well.

What's being celebrated?

About a week from now.

Ours used to be "Dominion" day.
Canada Day now, and it falls July 1st.
I have to try and remember to try and take pix.

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

Holding the aperture open during a barrage of colorful rockets can yield neat pics. Same for a lightning storm.

The first few years after I came back from the military, I'd flat leave town on the 4th. SW

ive avoided the local display since my kids left home - watch from my back deck a few miles away , on a good year i get a good view with less impact ,
back in the day they used to launch from a barge in the middle of the river [mississippi] so we would launch the boat and anchor upstream to watch - great vantage point but real close to the total sound effects , the kids often got restless and short of throwing them overboard it was a challenge keeping them entertained till the 30 minute display , then there was the wait at the ramp to load up and go home , often after midnight by the time we got them home , good part was they were generally asleep by then , transfer sleeping kids to the truck , then once home to bed , i doont miss it even tho i would not wish to do it different back then
