My friend, Natasha's mother - whom I've met in person and shared a conversation in Russian - sent this word of current events relating to them. It's something to be reminded of on our Independence Day - Freedom isn't free! SW "Yesterday was the first day since a long time without rocket attacks or air-raid warnings on Kiev. People were out in the parks enjoying the sunshine and the flowers and the birds. In Donbass aerea (where it all started almost 5 years ago) we lost ctct with one of Natasha's friends. He had his Bday on saturday and Natasha called him but an unknown person answered his phone and hung up. The guy had caught a ricochet in the calf a couple years back but was back in service. Another friend sent some pics from the field hospital. Collected some schrapnell in the ankle, lower, leg, knee. Nothing critical but he'll be out of action for some time. Let's hope this whole "situation" will be over by then." BTW, Natasha is Andrey's wifey. SW |
