many years ago, I had a really well broken in Opinel #8,
carried it so long I could just flip it and it would open up
went to Lowes and left it, I think, on the bumper when I tied down something I bought,
when I was a kid, I spent a summer working for my Grandfather, found out years after he passed, that I was his driver because he lost his license for a bit, and I had a learners
anyway, he was a carpenter\handyman\small repairs kinda guy, we were working on a house of a family friend out in the country, and on the way home one day, I had locked up his tools in the side boxes on his truck, and left the keys on the top of the boxes,
morale of the story,, stuff happens, it will work out in the long run
his old chevy did not need a key to start it, so he did not realize I had not given them back to him till we got to his place,
so, we drove slower than normal up the country roads near the house we were working on and found the keys maybe 5 miles from the house
fortunately, they had only been hit a couple times, as in run over, so most all of them were in good shape, and still worked
