today i went to get annual fishing license [yup to legally catch fish] for the last 39 years ive been buying one , for the last 30 years i was buying a husband/wife combination that they offer , always able to get it with just "my" drivers license , but not today ...... no sir , the rules have changed they tell me ,

was told i needed my wife to show up or have her drivers license to complete the purchase , so [my wife is working] i went and got her license and brought it back - then they wanted her social security number .........

im not sure when the DNR started collecting and paying social security but that did not sit well , our state senator is a personal friend on speed dial and my wife is now investigating that , we are quite sure that the illegals here are getting licenses [drivers , fishing , hunting and others] they dont have SS numbers ,

not sure what will come of this but we did learn we are not the only couple to complain , the senator has already initiated inquiry , there is something totally wrong about the DNR asking for SSN from US citizens to fish - or anything else for that matter ,

followup rant -
if "everyone" has to have their "PAPERS" in this country we need to be rid of those without "PAPERS" ,

this state has always been a fishing destination , now im starting to think differently , we are over taxed , frozen for 1/3rd of the year , now we live in a military district , we are a dumping ground for immagrants that dont want to assimilate , im about done with it all ,

so far my wife wants to stay for the grandkids , but im not as sure we can weather this storm here

That sucks! I buy hunt/fish/trap permits online for wifey and I. $5 apiece for old farts & no habitat stamp needed. SW

Photo I/D is required here now- most likely to prevent non-residents from obtaining resident licenses.

You oughta watch that info mining they are doing.
A photo driver's license should be more than enough.
State's got no business mining S.I.N. data, and probably isn't.
The vendor may be selling data.
Personal data is rapidly becoming the new "illicit drug" of choice...

Doc Sharptail

my thoughts exactly , i doubt the illegal's here are having this issue , i have a state senator working on this as we speak , he is a close friend and has had numerous other complaints , there is no reason for more than a state ID , its not required to vote here , they get drivers licenses and such without any hassle , im looking at this in a new light - thinking late 1930s germany and wondering if we are going there incrementally , socialism is not acceptable in my world ,

that said , if they want to issue a federal ID and turn this into that - require it of all and throw out any without ....but thats not the goal here im sure , so building a national data base of honest citizens can not bode well for those of us that comply , ill stop here as i may actually step outside my comfort area - we wouldnt want me to get uncomfortable in this touchy feely world we live in would we ?
