Lurkeys!! Not a lot of effort required. I found a comfortable place near a small creek abd just waited. And it didn't take long. It warmed right up, and the turks migrated from wheat stubble into the cool shadows of the creek.

I watched 3 juvenile males squabbling. B & C were taking turns kicking A's butt. They stood breast to breast for a shoving match. A would get tard from fighting B & just flop on the ground. B would wander off but C would keep jumping on A until he would get up and fight again... and get his butt tromped by C.

While all this was going on, 30 more turks wandered down to the creek for a drink... and right up to me. No toms, but I saw this jake and at 20 paces... "POW!!" Right in the kisser! I could easily tell he was deader'n a wedge & sat still. The turks acted confused and fell back 25 yards for a meetin'.

Which must have been about where to go for dinner because they came right back towards me. I spotted a nice hen and pulled down on her... tightened up on the trigger... had the gold bead right over the "shoot here to void warranty" spot... and didn't shoot. It occurred to me I only wanted one for dinner tomorrow. It's not like it's going to be tough to shoot #2. And get a second license late Nov or early Dec.

So I just yelled at the turks who ran right over to where LarryBob was lurking. "POW!!" x 2.

He whacked 2 young hens & said he wished he had only shot one. Well, he will have leftovers. Mine was all fat from living on wheat. Should taste just fine.

What a peaceful morning! I was sitting behind the log listening to squills cutting up & playing grab-a$$ in the Russian olive trees - the bazillion little boids flitting around... SO peaceful and refreshing to the soul!

i think i will move there.......but wiat....isn't that white stuff comming soon????

looks like SOMEone needs to find the spring for a 16 pump marlin.....and do some Au-thentic shooting!!

I was down in KY one memorial weekend and my cousins wife had made dumplins on the turk he had gotten. Excellent tasting food.
