Took this early this morning. A whole gaggle of turkeys grazing on grasshoppers. We have a good crop of hoppers this year which means nice fat turks this fall! SW

I can not pick out all of the turkeys in the flock. How many did you see? I can't make all of them out. Are there some young ones in there?

I just found this out.

A group of domesticated turkeys is a gang or rafter. The internet is making the language more difficult.

A group of wild turkeys is called a flock.
I still don't know why there is a distinction or why they call it a "murder of crows"

I guess if they can call a loose group of reporters a gaggle you can call a group of wild turkeys the same. Bob Scott also referred to loose groups of Zeros a gaggle.

There were over a hundred altogether spread out over half a mile on both sides of the road. These were closest to the road & the pic wasn't blurred when I edited it.

I estimated 5 or 6 chicks per hen which is a good hatch. I like to see turks grazing like that. SW

kinda like skeeters here i guess ? sept not so annoying and far better eating , bout the same siZe tho

I think the most wild turkeys I have ever seen was bout 6-7. Wow. most articles say they travel in small flocks. I think a hundred is more than a small flock.

In this case it was a collection of small flocks not widely separated, but I hunt a ranch where actual flocks of a hundred are not uncommon.

Two years ago I got into a bunch and shot a nice fat hen. They were rather closely spaced & I got two turks with the one shot. Please pass the gravy! SW

ill agree with old navy on the size of common flocks here too they number in the 20-30 in big flocks and 10-20 in the small
