My main man & I got into a big gaggle & really put the sneak on them! At 15 paces, I whacked a huge tom & small hen.

The tom has a 10" beard & 1 1/4 spurs. Which are darn sharp I learned the hard way. Got a good clean head shot & he was dead as a wedge, but when I picked him up, he started the dead flying bit & I got stuck pretty good.

Easily 25# so it will be at least all day & night in the crock pot so the gravy won't be too chewey. Fattest turks I've ever seen! They pig out on corn all day & will have a great flavor.

LarryBob went around the hay pile the other way & whacked 2 more hens on his side.

I would have had 3, but my last shell hung up in the magazine. Just as well, there isn't room in the fridge for another & I don't share turks!

Just got 'em cleaned & soaking in the fridge - nap time now!!

Makes me remember good times on our farm when a turkey would commit suicide.....and mom would clean n bake em.....I love the smell of roasting turkey in the house, me and dad would come in, from working outside in the cold.....mom would have the table set with mashed taters, rolls, bean or peas, and that turkey.....and if it was Saturday night.....we would sit around the wood stove and talk.......

Those are good memories ......than you for bringing them out

When I used to go to WY to hunt deer I'd sit in my blind and watch the turkeys down in the neighbor barn yard and wishing they would come up my way but no food where I was at.
