Calming very nicely after a full week of 20mph+ winds.....

"bout time, so inna hour or so, when the big waves hve settled, were gone.
Im always packed and ready, but now Im really ready!

Well Mother Nature is being a "Mother" to put it nicely.....
We got out in the ocean abd with three waves over the bow, I bowed out and between sets, turned for the Imnachuq, Deerings own river, and just went home. Screw that.
Were wanting to Hunt, not Die.
Fact is , were going to plan "C" now, 'cause I NEED meat.

I did something to make the Gods at me.........

Tomarrows forcast?
Snow, Rain and Wind, .........I can see we're headed for a Fine and Pleasent Misery.

Better kick Plan C into high gear.

The last time I talked to hailstone this morning, he was going back out to look at the water. He said it looked smooth. They were going to have a few more cups of coffee, and start out if it looked ok .

....geeeeeeez Bushi.... ....yer starting to sound like my wife.....

Hailstone and my brother have had it rough all week very high wind.

....yeah-I know.....and so have I.....from my wife...

Do Dance or somethin....it was SO nice when we got up and even better when the sun came up, we didnt even make it around the first point (NineMile) and the wind was whipping waves to us, out of a storm about 10 miles away...
The Snow caught us when we parked in the lee of the point, and when we determined there were no Caribou, we returned to the boat to find it grounded.....The tide went out!!!!!
Burned wood, dryed out and watched a HUGE Orca pass by.....


Sooooooooooo 3 or so hours later, we had her pushed back in the Ocean ad headed to Kougruk Lagoon to look over the mountain side and Bumped into Jim....he was chasing Seals and had caught a small male Ring Seal.

The Killer Whales around send all kinds of Seals into the Lagoons and rivers in an effort to live another day, and even a bad hunter can catch them then..
We watched him, from our boat as he went ahead of us (so we wouldnt scare any of the big Seals off) and he took shots at a couple more.....then the ride home. Seems my 115 was being a pain in the patooty, as the anti-cavitaion sensor was shutting us down just when we would make plane......had to shut completely down a couple times to reset the electronics, and it was a smooth but rainy, wavy ride home...just intime for dinner and 20-30 MPH winds to seal us back in Deering

Had Caribou Heart and Tounge soup for dinner, and Dave seems to enjoy Muktuk now

So, did you guys get to hunt at all?? Sure hope so! Inquiring minds want to know!!!!

The wind was calm, simply because we took a Honda and drove way the Heck back to public land and saw NO Caribou. We joined a couple fellows who were headed that same way, and got a first hand show as one of 'em shot a Sweet Brown Bear.
Help'd him track 'em through the brush and bumped into em at the rivers edge, about 10 feet away , and thankfully it bailed into the creek rather than charge me. Called the fellow over and he finished what he started
Skinned and beheaded so the skin a nd skull can be tagged.

Then we saw two more HUGE Brownies up the way and just watched them.

We carried on up the trail to some ridge tops where it began to snow drizzle and fog.....and saw nothing.

Plenty of Giant Moose around, and in the final light of the day, about 1/2 hour from home we saw a NICE Bull about a mile away , atop a ridge , eating his supper......We just said our Good noights and left as the light faded, and we came home to Caribou in the yard.....that Agnes shot about 5 miles out from town, mid afternoon ...died of VKT Mosinitus
