Still about 5-6 weeks here till freeze over. My timing has been really off with the pickerel (walleye) this year. Having a lot of difficulty getting to the right places at the right time. Been putting up with low and dirty water for most of this season. Fall feed migration from the big lake up into the rivers is off-kilter this year. I am hopefully going after ruffies and Sharptails in the morning. Got my license at Cabela's today. Had a look around in the gun and optics dept's and the bargain cave. Prices have been on a steady increase ever since Ba$$ Pro bought in. It's costing them in my business, at least. I'll get what ever I can from the independent local guys... Regards, Doc Sharptail |

 Walleye bite has been very slow this fall. We have a week to 10 days before ice-ip negates shore fishing. Managed this 2 1/2 lber at the mouth of Sturgeon Creek on the Assiniboine R. Nice eater size. I do prefer them a little bigger, but pickings have been awfully slim of late... Regards, Doc Sharptail |

had a walleye sandwich for lunch yesterday , yours looks like it would provide two that right nicely , my last walleye of the season - or any other fish was in may when we defied the covid and went for opener , that was right after i got retired again , then found myself near full time in my part time job through today-tomorrow-next week till deer opener , not complainin - it could be worse always and im still alive , well , busy , healthy and looking to the future for better , |

 There's a 3lb eater from the Assiniboine river last night. Sister's phone was covered in late evening dew. Caught in river water about 2 feet deep. Haven't been getting much of this due to low water... Regards, Doc Sharptail |

water levels are a big issue here as well , i can walk across the mississippi a block south of here , above the dam is still at normal but the water is moving slow and a lot of algae issues in calm water not been this low in many years - maybe ever in my time here of near 40 years , my lawn is still green without watering but only because of the trees shading it the neighbors are all brown , the river in the back lawn is dead calm - not the norm .............. good thing is we have no mosquitoes at all - i love that , almost unheard of here , i dont miss them and have enjoyed being out in my lawn till all hours this summer |

 Now that's a bit more like it. Enough walleye there for a meal for 2! Sturgeon creek again at sunset. There were a lot of tiny ones- all taking 4" grubs on a 1/8 oz jighead. Finn filleter in the crappy phone pic is almost 16" from it's tip to end of handle, and the white walleye board is 24" in length. Regards, Doc Sharptail |

nice fish , im getting a bit restless to get on the water , ive not been fishing since opener - we do still have fish here from that event but im wanting to feel that tug , even if its a throw back , id like to feel it hit |

Went back last night. Sis caught a small walleye and a big freshwater drum. That 10 lb stren line is something else. I caught a 3 lb channel cat on a walleye grub yet again. Regards, Doc Sharptail |

there was a place maybe 10 miles west of Camp Perry that was a somewhat nice sit down type restaurant, they served a good fried Walleye dinner, I think I was there last in maybe 2007 it was damn tasty |

Just had a home-fried walleye supper before I sat down here. Side was K.D., which ain't too bad when it's done right. I give my walleye a salty water rinse before refrigerating, and it really brings out the flavor. Regards, Doc Sharptail |

was out fishing with a friend years ago, we caught a nice mess of fish, largemouth bass crappy bream\ shell crackers I cleaned them up, filleted and breaded them, and was frying them on the camp stove out back ( did not want to smell the house up) had the wife come out with a platter and some paper towels, (laid the fresh fried fish on the towels) and told her to give me a few minutes and I would have more for her (second batch) she came out with the empty platter, maybe 5 minutes later, I said, did you put the other pieces on a plate? what plate, she says? the one these will go on, says I,, nope, I ate them she loves some fried fish, and yes, the 3 or 4 filet were all gone, |

my wife has that same tendancy , but then every fish fry i go to out on the lakes they get eaten real fast as they get erved , no plates involved just walking about among those in attendance and finger food help yourself , dont get me wrong , there is a table full of salads to heap on your plate and "bars" as they call all the baked goods [brownies to me] up here they also call casaroles "hot dish" up here but its the same as what i grew up with down south of here , the food s fine but nothing like fresh fish straight from the lake into the fryer ...just off the dock in sight of the boat to make my mouth water , |

oh yeah, fresh is the best, high school buddy and I went with his dad one day, out in the mouth of a river that feeds into the bay, I was chumming, (can't do much bouncy water) off one side, they were catching Speckled Trout on the other, filleted and his mom fried them up for dinner that night, lip smacking good eating |
