I think I posted this several years ago but since I found the pic when looking for something else, here it is again.
My closest friend had an outbuilding where he stored grain. It goes without saying squills soon perceived that and chewed a hole at the top of the door so they could get in to stuff themselves.
Seeing this, we pounded on the door which resulted in the furry little schmucks bailing out the hole to hit the ground running. The light blub came on...
"Let's get a fishing dip net and catch them when they bail out!" Worked like a champ! We never did kill any - it was too much fun to dump them out & watch them sprint to the nearest tree where they traced our ancestry back to a diseased amoeba. (Squills are little jerks and really have a potty mouth!)
They never learned, either. Every time we went out we always caught one or 2. Good times - good times! SW
