Had Flop Ears out for our every morning short hike & noticed she was going bonkers snuffing around a fallen tree where I found these tracks. Clearly not deer & no cattle within several miles... No poop for a definitive ID.

Moose? Elk? Something from Area 51? Game & Parks does have a water tank for deer & big horns at their HQ about 2 miles from here.

Got back to the truck & a blue bird was sitting still near one of the nesting boxes game & parks sets out for them. Got a composition I liked & was slowly pressing the button... ZIP! Gone. Must not have been his good side. Bluebirds don't sit still worth a darn. SW

ive noticed that about bluebirds as well , been a few at the range when i get there early , they flit about incessantly never sit still for a photo , but fun to watch ,

thats a big track , maybe moose - you got them around your parts often ? i never see them this far south here , mostly north a few hours

Not many mooses around here at all. After the morning hike I stopped by the Game & Parks HQ & was told there's indeed a (just one) moose hanging around.

I'd like to get a pic - from a distance. I hear they get cranky. SW

yes they are and fast overland , i like approaching by sea - they swim well but not fast , but ....they have long legs - if it gets shallow they have an advantage over my canoe

I've seen shod Clydesdales leave tracks like that in sandy loam. Not quite enough split there for a corvid.
Sizes are a little disparate for one animal.
Don't cite me on this though- just going by what I've seen up north in moose country.

Track at pic bottom looks like deer- around here that lower track would be about a yearling white-tail....

Tried this evening to get yellowbellies on sensor, and same thing- they would not sit still long enough for the processor on the little canon to find focus
