The fish...

Image

Walleye seem to have taken a break.
Nice seeing one of these in the river again.
Sis caught this at Crescent Drive Park.
It was immediately released.
They grow quite a bit larger than that, with 6-8 lb fish being considered trophy size...

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

caught a few of those, and other called a Warmouth, years ago in a local lake,

the look like a cross between a Crappie and a Bass, sorta,

tossed them all back, they were not much bigger that what you have in that pic,

fought good tho, on an ultralite rig

havent caught any of those since i was 10 - my aunt and uncle had a cabin on a lake that supported a good population back then and they took my brother and i for a week a couple summers , some of the best fishing i can recall , there were trout in that reservoir as well , i think they thrive in colder water

what we were catching were a pound to two pounds , much larger than what your talking about ,

Cut out the red meat and they eat pretty good.

i enjoyed them when my aunt fixed them , its been a really long time so i cant say if they were better or worse than other things ive eaten since , i was young and hungry , but this was the same aunt and uncle that taught me to catch trout then showed me how to bake them on a BBQ so i suspect they were quite good , id like to catch some again in the future and retry the whole experience ,

never ate them, we mostly tossed the stuff back,

years ago I was fishing with a guy that worked for me,

we had a great day, caught lots, and I kept a few for dinner,
one or 2 smaller sandwich sized bass, and a few nice crappy and bream,

got them home, filleted and breaded, and was cooking them outside on the camp stove

wife shows with a plate , I put the fish on the plate (on paper towels to absorb any leftover oil,) and put the next batch in,

she showed up again with a fresh plate,
when I asked if she put the others on the table , she said no, what others,,

I said the ones I just gave you minutes ago,

oh, those,, I ate them,

my wife is a size 0 or a 2 on a good day, but can make fried fish disappear in an instant,
she loves the stuff
