tomarrow is departure for that minnesota holiday -opening of fishing , one of two state holidays , the other being opening of deer hunting

im headed north to cass lake with a large group of guys to enjoy a manly weekend with fishing , food , and some drink on the agenda , ill probably opt for a good cigar

they say the ice is not yet totaly off the lake so much food has been included in the packing at least we can keep our winter weight up for the cold , but i guarantee the boat will launch and the hearty few ill fish with will put our best efforts forth in the search for the fresh caught evening meal ,

we are prepared for the weather , and the weatherman is being evasive as usual [dont want to scare off the tourists ]

ill try to get the cammera out a couple times if i can tear myself away from my fishing reel long enough

Walleye, get a walleye

OK, verbal report, ice was still on the main lake, no access from the public landing, the resort is on a bay. it was open as was the channel to the river and an adjacent lake [after plowing through the broken ice floats] another area at the north end opened up on sunday.

saturday AM, rain and lots a walleyes, PM snow[blizzard] no walleyes, sunday AM clear a few walleyes, PM sunny and windy no walleyes, monday AM cloudy, windy, no walleyes.

great time and met a lot of great guys [and some sons] lotsa food.
met one wife, local country radio personality, really nice, made great pies and other stuff.

ate too much, fished a lot, slept too little, cleaned a lotta fish. we had a great fish fry and still took limit of fish home, some very nice 25-30 inchers were caught [and let go] i got two of those.

only got one photo with my camera, waiting on others [i hope] to supply theirs, this taken before the rain started [or snow]

Looks like a great time!

....you catch 'em-I'll sit in a nice warm place and gladly eat 'em .....I LOVE walleye...
