Firearms deer harvest drops over last year


DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- The firearms deer harvest is down this year compared to last year.

The Duluth News Tribune reports the number of deer bagged in the firearms season from Nov. 8 to Nov. 23 was down 11 percent compared to last year. That's according to preliminary registrations at Electronic Licensing System stations.

The drop was even steeper in northeastern Minnesota, which saw a 19-percent drop. Wildlife officials say the drop was due to tough weather on opening weekend and aggressive management that has reduced the number of deer across the region.

I think it's going to keep dropping off. What with the bad bullets leaving lead in the meat and not being able to find land to hunt on.

well i cant see how the eagles are getting any lead in the hunting season , they only scavange the gut piles ...........

and we all know the lead is in the meat that we put on the food shelves to poison the poor people with

Wax and wane.....populations rise and all from many factors, and "If" they properly managed Nature (Wich is like predicting next weeks weather) they wont entirely dissapear, and hunting will be stopped untill a schoool bus or politition hits a couple on the road...and demand a reduction,ect. ect. ect.~LOL!!~
