Eden Valley boy hurt in 50-foot snowmobile plunge

EDEN VALLEY, Minn. (AP) -- An Eden Valley teenager was hurt when the snowmobile he was driving dropped 40 to 50 feet from the top of a hill into a gravel pit.

The Stearns County sheriff's office says the 16-year-old boy was riding the snowmobile on private property in Eden Valley Township when the accident happened at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

The boy was traveling in an unfamiliar area when he drove up a hill, which ended in the gravel pit. He landed in frozen sand and was taken to St. Cloud Hospital.

Been there, but not quite like that.
Trick to an an unexpected drop is "when in doubt, max it out!'

Point being that the centrifical force of the spinning track will keep you 'on the level', , nose slightly up, and your undercarriage springs, shocks and the foamy seat, along with forward momentum can help you "ride out" a fall like that.

Stupid it surley was to haul butt in unfamiliar terrain...always break trail Slow like...

Thanks A-square!
