there have been numerous sitings around here lately , someone may have to consider that seriously , if i gotta use what i have - i think 308/762 ,

but then ive only got that , 30-06 , 303 , 30carbine , 30-40 , 45-70 , 223/556 ,and 22LR in the rifle id prefer to be using in this case ,
close quarters battle would not be on my agenda in this case , id like to think i would need the scope to get a good sight picture ,

at close range i want the weatherby SA-08 with the ten round tube fully loaded , and i want a backup handgun fully charged as well , i have a healthy respect for the cat ,

The only place the cougar is protected in in that left coast state and states where they are not in huntable numbers. You can hunt them from Canada to Mexico in most western states. Bobcats are also huntable but I believe the Canadian Lynx is protected in most states.

Mac
If you want to hunt the cougar you need to get in touch with an outfitter and apply for a license.

In Texas, the cougar is still considered a varmit and can be killed at any time. Trouble is, they are very, very seldom seen -- wonder why :-o

big kats are here.....heard them outside the house here in southern tenn...seen evidence~the wifie saw one years ago run around the house corner.......wouldn't shoot a lil bobcat~ watched them, and they are big kitty cats, which i like!....they are just trying to make it,like me.....now if they ever opened a season on homeless people...... :crzy:  but they are too smelly to skin, and to much fat on the meat..... :rotflma:

killin is depressing....i don't do that anymore...i have reached a age where lap dances are MORE interesting......which, on my 'bucket list' is a lap dance by dolly pardon~

we got them down here.when I was hunting a ranch down on the lampasas river a solid black one was seen several times.
I have never shot one or really wanted to but I never went out to the ranch w/o atleast a handgun on my hip.
they can be shot on sight here and they do ask that you call fish & game if you do kill one.

I saw a bobcat in Wyoming a few years ago while I was hunting but there you have to have a trapper permit.

I have seen bobcats on rare occasions....and once i kept one interested with a preditor call, till he sat down and closed his eyes, and "meowed" excatly like my ol tom.......after that....i was sure i will never kill one.........

now a cougar in the back yard might be another ending......they kinda scare me~ legal or not,~ maybe i would just get a water hose out..... :crzy:
still i wanna hunt butterflys...........
