Things like the second pic above can happen, especially if you are not using a grain scale and make a mathematical error in converting weight. We learnt the hard way with that

Our german clone SAA in 357 didn't look as bad as this with one split chamber and broken top strap. It looks like two rounds possibly pressure chained above...

The easy correction, of course, is to buy a grain scale, and a proper reloading manual. We had been trying to work up loads from Petersen's handgun magazine with almost zero bench experience.

i recall that rifle story , i could not figure that one either - if it was as old as its supposed to be and thats sorta dating when it was lost - it was dar too valuable to forget or misplace not to mention the danger of not having it in hand , if planted more recently - again far too valuable to waste it on the weather in my mind ,
