Further comment on the old car pic above - a lot more neat old cars got trashed as stock cars in the 50s and early 60s. A track in western Nebr featured a "jalopy race" in which any old car that still ran could compete - 4 door sedans and that sort of thing.

But mainly, the racer guys liked 2 door coupes and would scour salvage yards to find them. The cars didn't last long - a lot of the races were little more than demolition derbies. SW

ive had a birthday party like that - or two , but then when i turned 70 a bit ago i was treated to friends and relatives that traveled a lot of miles in dead of minnesota winter to be there so i guess it all equals out , would be interesting to see who is around for my wake
