that deer caption really hits home these days , with all the snow they are in my yard on my patio and my deck , eating my junipers and yews in the back lawn , i nearly have nothing left at all of them or the cedar trees out front , the deer are on my deck and patio a couple feet from the house - the dogs not sure what is going on , and the rabbits are eating all the bark off every bush and tree in the front yard , also aggravating the dog ,

"Oh, sure. Tourists throw croutons to ducks and geese, but does anybody ever toss me a hamster or cat? Noooo!"

I had a 9v transistor when I was in HS. Took it with me irrigating. If I was on a hill and held it just right, I could JUST make out R&R tunes from the radio station 30 miles away.

We had a dry cell for the crank telephone... on a party line. No private conversations with the gf on that! SW

I actually had one of those crystal radio kits when I was a kid.
Bit of a strange experience.
A 30 ft. antenna came with it, and Dad helped me anchor the receiving end onto a convenient elm outside the house.
I could pull in WLS and WBBM out of Chicago, but had much trouble with local stations.
I got hooked on WLS's all-nighter- "The Night Show- Live From Gotham".
Too bad that sort of thing is no longer done.
