Thanks for the Muley post Hogger. Wish I could still hunt Wyoming, but alas the years have taken their toll. Besides the ranch was willed to the grandson and his wife Ru Paul. |

when i was a kid we lived on a deep ravine - the creek at the bottom drained into the river a lot from my folks house , so it was deep , probably 30 feet in that area , the neighbors strung a cable bridge across it , they used 11/2"-3" tree cuttings as the bed , but it was three cables - two that the walkway was lashed to and one as a handrail [11/2" cable ] it moved a lot when you crossed the couple hundred feet from edge to edge , you could get it to sway side to side a lot , exciting in those days - no one died |

They were mostly to knock the cow off the tracks to prevent a derailment. Rather than a cow/deer/elk catcher, they're called a snow plow now. But the intent's the same - prevent an animal going under the driver wheels. I'm here to tell you contents of a deer's intestines don't help traction worth a darn. It gets slippery fast, and there goes your traction... which you need when ahold of 20,000 tons. SW |
