I've been shooting a lot of .22 lately, both rifle and pistol. The TC Benchmark will shoot the eye out of a gnat at 50 yds but I think I like the Rugar Charger better, only it's not a rifle.

I only listed makers, add which model you like. Feel free to add 2nd & 3rd choices.

I had Winchester on there but didn't hit the add button. It's there now.

I have my Grandfather's Remington Model 12C pump with octagon barrel. The bluing has a few worn spots - but you can still drive tacks with it :!:

I have a savage M 24 in 22wmr/20ga that puts them in one ragged hole at 25 yds if I do my part. A lot more accurate than my ruger 10/22.

This is my favourite .22 rifle.
The Mosin Nagant WZ 48.
A Polish single shot trainer in calibre .22 LR.
IMHO this is a real trainer.
The rear and front sight are almost an exact copy of the Mosin Nagant M44.
So are the trigger and the weight of the rifle
It’s just plain fun to shoot this rifle.
It’s a great shooter too.
2” groups at 25 meters and 3” groups at 50 meters.
The rifle can perform better, it's the shooter that can't.
I haven’t had the chance to shoot it at 100 meters, but I will one of these days.
It did take some time to find the right ammo for it.
I started of with MagTech, but the bullets landed all over the place.
I also had a lot of misfires with this ammo.
I also tried “Swartclip”, South African ammo.
This wasn’t a success either.
CCI and American Eagle performed great at 25 and 50 meters.
I think I will try American Eagles at 100 meters, because this is high velocity ammo and it performed great in my Anschutz .22 rifle.

Here are some pictures.

The bolt doesn’t look like the ones you know from the other Mosin Nagants.
It looks more like a Mauser type of bolt.

Image

Both front and rear sight are almost an exact copy of the ones on the Mosin Nagant M44

The ejector system is one I haven’t seen on any other rifle.
I know there are other rifles that use this very same system, but I haven’t seen one except on the WZ 48.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Martin

I clicked other because you didn't put DPMS as an option. .223 Rem is a .22 isn't it? If you are stuck on 22lr, then I will have to claim the Ruger 10-22. I bought one off a fellow who was in a tight spot for $35 a very long time ago. I shot tens of thousands of rounds through that thing and the trigger was so smoooth! I loved it.

One of my friends lusted after it and whined until I sold it to him for $60. The funny thing is that he got married just after he bought the rifle and I never saw either one of them again. I have two 10-22s now but neither shoots like that first one. It looked a little rough but it sure shot fine.

Have FUN!
O' ;)

Here is my all time favorite:
Image
Marlin Model 60

I had one on "loan" a few years ago. It belonged to my then sister-in-law.I fell in love with the rifle. When she left my brother, the rifle went with her so I spent the next year looking for the perfect model 60. I found this one in a local shop for $98 out the door. Other than the sling swivel holes (which Uncle Mike fixed), there wasn't a scratch on it. It is a pure joy to shoot. I can consistantly make touching shots.
