The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username. I'm guessing you mean an 1886 Portuguese krop. There are three types, the carbine, short rifle, and long rifle. The carbine and short rifle are scarcer. I got a short rifle about two years ago for 200. from a c&r board. I think today, that up to 400 max might be the going price. The bayos usually go for about 50., but the bayo prices on ebay have been going nuts lately, and that may be low. A lot of these rifles have mismatched bolts, so and all matching may be worth more to the right person. These guns don't seem to have a big demand, but they are easy to load for.

Thanks. The Krops are both long rifles. I've also done a bit of pricing inquiry which agrees with your figures. The store owner won't be that flexible because I think he paid $500 or so. Antique store owners don't always know the best 'buy it now price.'

Thanks also for catching my typo re the date. Indeed 1886.

I fell in love with an 1886 rifle plus bayonet years ago so purchsaed it for $65NZ or aobut $40US - twenty years ago I sold the rifle alone for $225 or $250NZ but kept the bweyonet.
I havenoticed that they have gone up considerably in value in the last few years so it depends if you REALLY want it - if you MUST have it then take it while the going is good otherwise you may never have the chance again. I HAD to have a New Model 1863 Sharps the other day, had waited a lifetime to get one and the udnerbidder had as well methinks as he finally gave up at $5900NZ and it cost me $3000 more than I thought but I did get it and that cost $6000NZ plus 10% buyers premium.
The moral of the story is that it is worth what you will pay.
