The gun he is holding is definitely a Model 1851 Adams 38 bore otherwise known as a Dragoon. As I said in an earlier post these big bore hand cannons were apparently made for fighting natives who worked themselves into adrenalin rushes before attacking. This particular weapon would have been made between 1851 and 1854 |
