Some guy brought one in to one of those TV Pawn shop shows last week, they took it out and fired it to make sure it worked. As I remember they talked him down to $1.300

mines not a carbine - its a rifle , but i really like my trapdoor and im starting to reload for it , i think i may try to use it for cowboy side matches this summer just to have a reason to shoot it

...if I were a good rifleman, I'd own one...my eyes just don't do good out past 50 yds. or so...maybe I need to find a place to shoot outside and try harder...doc says they're actually gettin' stronger...I'd like to be able to shoot 100yds open sights well....maybesosomeday...

I am one of the lucky ones...maybe 8 years ago an avid collector was selling a Custer Era carbine (18,XXX serial ). It looked to be in VG condition and the only change to the carbine was the stock was a 1877 replacement. The original '73 stocks had a long wrist area that was prone to break. They shortened the wrist on many of the issued carbines at that point.The 1877 stocks also had provisions for a cleaning rod in the buttstock, a necessity sorely missing and needed at Custer's battle. I have only test fired it, deathly afraid of cracking that 130 year old stock.

Nice carbine. I have an 1888 ramrod bayonet model (long rifle) myself. I like it as the twist is set up for 500 grain pills.

like ET , i have a long rifle 1888 rod bayonet model , im very fond of it , i never realised how much fun these old buggers might be ,

too short on cash to look for a carbine , but that would be a really nice one to have ,
