So me & flop ears bailed from the pickup and were leaving foot prints down the trail when I caught sight of something with a very dark neck. Moose? (been seeing moose prints for the last week or so)

No... it was a large bull elk! Baby blood hound trotted right by it, and she has a heck of a nose...

Then the light blub came on - local archery club has set up for their annual contest and set out a number of life like targets.

Fooled again!

Here are pics of moose tracks. Tuesday morning there were these tracks over footprints I made the previous day. Dog breath found where the moose took a whiz and got all excited. But going over a butte to look for it was a bad idea and then some.

Moose seem to be moving ever south wards. I came across some decent sized tracks at the last gravel pit session. They were a good 6 1/2" in length. Problem with that is the limited wetlands browse that they are normally associated with. Just not that much of it this far south.

Nope not where we hunted in WY. Seen large cat and elk prints, but no moose. Guess we were to far down on the flats for moose.
There a lot of water around that area? Moose like ponds and such for the vegetation. Nope we were drier than popcorn fart on the ranch, just some tanks here and there.
