Very early. I take little mutt out to the buttes every morning for a short hike. We go early since it's cooler and I like the light then. Got these pics just as the sun was coming up. On the way back to town, Flop ears wanted out to rev these deer up but no - they weren't hurting anything. Just stood there giving us a stoopid look. (they excel at that) SW

This morning, I tried to get a pic of little mutt trying to dig up a gopher. (pretty much only badgers can do that) She wrote it off as a bad idea by the time I got close enough so I got a pic of sunrise.

There's a lot of turks out where it's foggy. SW

Pic like that the imagination can run with.

Think that's what the classic oil paint masters were after.

Whatcha shootin photos with these days?

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

For hiking I use a refurbed Canon powershot pocket size I scored on a cyber Monday sale a few years ago. Much handier than the full size Canon... which has much better glass.

But life is a continuing series of trade offs. SW

im still using my original digital - the one that i bought back when i first started posting photos , i think its a nikon coolpix but ive not looked at it for this reason lately ,mostly to check the batteries , i just know it takes great photos its in the car and follows me everywhere but i don't get those great opportunities , when i retire ....maybe ill get a dog and do as you do in the mornings , it looks so relaxing ,

i kinda miss my old nikon - it had the multiple lenses with lots of options but the film got hard to find and get developed , there was something to be said for the surprise when you got the photos back and i miss my old B&W darkroom equipment , a lot of the results you could control , i dont miss the long nights in the darkroom so much but it was fun back then , when i had a darkroom ...and the energy ....and time ???
really did i spend that many hours in that room - yup i did once upon a lifetime ago , it was fun
