It was 58 degrees when me & Hydrophobia went out for a short hike just now. Turkeys were out loading up on grasshoppers while they were still sluggish and easier to catch.
They feed on wheat straw bales, too. Must be bugs in the straw or something. There was a HUGE great horned owl watching the little turks, but it flew off before I could get a pic.
Also shown are self-propelled, DIY cheebooger kits ( cattle) who were also enjoying the low temp.
There were some turkeys right on the road pecking gravel & I let the mutt out to rev 'em up. They flew off with no casualties & Dog Breath was all happy. I didn't bail out of the pickup quickly enough for a decent pic of that.
Looks like we'll have a decent turkey season!
