Picked up one today at the Orangeville Gun show.
Pretty (not that you can tell from my photo )

Looks as if it needs a "Deflector" (which will make it look like an unacknowledged offspring of a Carcano).

Not too sure about how to shoot it. If I hold the forestock well forward of the ejector port (out the bottom) I won't be able to keep it still, and I'm liable to get hot shells dropped on my arm. If I hold it like a two handed pistol grip I doubt I'll be able to keep it still then either. But at least the ejecta (nice word, that) should miss me.

Maybe the deflector also serves as a place to grip it?

nice , the deflector is intended to turn them to the side ? that should keep them out your sleve

Thanks. Yes, I did see that, (it does start to look like a Carcano now doesn't it?), but I can't make out how it is working, just the profile shape of it. Presumably it has/is a ramp to one side or the other, that 'deflects' the spent shell to one side or the other.
