Attention New Members and those new registering!
We had a lot of problems with spammers and bot attacks with the stock measures provided by the software. The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username.
If you come back on and your login does not work retry with your username without the 7.

Ordered this on election night and picked it up at the UPS hub on my lunch hour today.
Walther P38 9mm. Slide dated 5/58. Been wanting one for years and Obama's win finally gave me the shove I needed to go ahead. Here it is right out of the box.

Nice find, P-38/P-1's are a real fun pistol to shoot. Even carry fairly well if you take a mind to.

I have put hundreds of rounds through both my 1942 WWII P38 (which I bought from another member here;) and a 1976 P1 I bought from AIM a few years ago ... not a single jam or misfire in either while using the Winchester 115gr white box ammo ... however ... have read that continuous use of the heavier 124gr ammo might NOT be recommended in these old guns, due to (via the P38 Forum) stress to the frame ... perhaps nothing, but maybe a safety issue for everyone here to be made aware of anyhow?

The one pictured above has the reinforcing lug to deal with the issue. The earlier P1's having switched to the Alu frame had some issues, hence the steel lug
