SOMEtimes I can't get much work done in the OlTom shop.........

but I did get my RR channel done(hope it's level)....and the barrel tenons placed and the the barrel channel holed out for them.....maybe today i will work on getting the lock fully inletted and the thrigger group placed.......
look at all that wood beside the barrel.....that will be cut down to 3/16", and then 1/8"!!!!!!
a flinter is just a barrel with a wrap of wood around it sometimes...this piece will be a 'transition' piece, between 1790-1820 type......thin as Paris' ankles!
update:
This rifle now resides in a fellows home in VA~ he wants to shoot a buck, then hang over the fireplace~
i'm now working a southern MTn rifle in walnut.....
