Snow still too deep for decent hiking but I got a few pics. You can see Mr. Eagle in a tree off to the left waiting for the geese to take off. That's when they grab one. SW

Eagles make a pretty good living off ducks and geese. They wait until they take off and grab one. Man, the feathers really fly! SW

im chearin for the eagle too , theres too damn many geese ...way too many

I had grand plans for a hike and scenic pics... until the snow got over 4" deep. So me & il Mutt drove out for a couple "mood pics". It's not easily visible, but the geese' backs are white from snow. They must have been warming their feet in the water for a while.

The cattle? Oh, they like it! No biting flies! SW

Yes. You can see it's not too deep - the geese barely get their ankles wet most of the way across. SW

I was trying for "texture" images this morning... didn't turn out quite like I wanted. You can see bonehead dog in the second pic. she found a wabbit to chase & was all happy. The wabbits are never in any danger - she just likes to see them run. SW

sure looks textured to me , i see lots of sharp lines and such , as well as a blend of colour , if you look out my windows or take a walk in the park here [snowshoes required] its all smooth flowing white with no definition at all - till you step off the edge of the world then its kinda greenish white and cold

I'm still abandoned & won't go to work until after midnight so I took the dog out for a few pics this AM. Kinda chilly @ +5 degrees so we didn't monkey around too long.

One of the problems I had was the lens fogging up from the temp differential. What looks like light snow is moisture on the lens. Detail suffered. But I did get a couple compositions that could have turned out worse.

This old structure is in a 10,000 acre public hunting tract. You just don't see many people out here even in nice weather. I thought I might get pics of a bobcat den, but it's covered with snow. il Mutt was all fuzzed up when she was sniffing around it so it must still smell of cat pee. Saw elk sign but without a ruler or something for size perspective, a pic wouldn't mean much.

Cold, but I had a good time! SW

GREAT STUFF!!

REALLY like the colors in the first post. That's the kind of stuff I TRY to get in my pics. Those colors don't last long. Got to be in place and ready for it when it happens.

...yeah-right place-right time......AND to have that camera there.....God knows how many good ones I've missed because I didnt...

Nice pics. You guys are lucky. Here it's high 70's, we've had hardly any cold days this winter.

Likely best pic I have. Too bad I lost the huge version. That was a spectacular sunset.
