We have to go slow through track work which gives me time to get a few pics with my iPod. Sorry quality to say the least, but I'm not taking my good Canon on the train.
Flooding in Lusk, Wyo destroyed this overpass. A house was washed off its foundation and gained enough momentum that it knocked the abutment loose. Raging water then eroded the structure until it fell onto the tracks.

A few weeks later, this mess is what has been done for repairs. Doesn't look too sturdy!

The flood washed a LOT of ballast out into hay meadows. Apparently, it was cheeper to scoop it up for re-use than haul new rock in from a quarry 80 miles away. It's not tvery clear, but taking rock from a pasture in a small tracked dump truck. Pretty neat!

Last week there was a derailment - probably broken rail. 38 cars in the dirt. What a mess!
