Sorry for the low quality image. The phone was all I had. I have given the Nikon point and shoot to my sister who expressed an interest in it. Time for a DSLR... 250 yds. They were very nervous. I glassed them with the cheep little Bushnell 8 X binocs for a positive I.D. Wheat harvest is in kinda early here. They are after what the combine dropped. About 20 miles n/w of St. Rita... I have not seen wild turks around here for one heck of a long time! Regards, Doc Sharptail |

Wheat fed turks have a good flavor! Do you have turkey season? We have a good crop here again. Just saw a good size flock grazing on grasshoppers. Season starts Sept 15 & goes until Jan 31 with a max of 4 to be shot. SW |

We have a short season for them ~ 2 weeks. Toms with visible beard only. One turkey per license, and one license per year. IIRC, licenses are still on a draw only basis. I am surprised they are surviving our winters. There is even a Wild Turkey organization here- Manitoba Wild Turkey Federation. This is only the third time in my life I have encountered them, and the first in a farm location. The other two encounters were up on the escarpment, and N/W Ontario.... Regards, Doc Sharptail |
