We had a lot of problems with spammers and bot attacks with the stock measures provided by the software. The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username.
If you come back on and your login does not work retry with your username without the 7.

Thanks for joining us from the administration.

Lifted off the CTV Winnipeg website. That is part of my escape route to the escarpment. By the look of it, I'm gonna hafta take the lengthy way around for a while...

Took a lot of cropping and re-sizing- probably a tablet photo sent in by passers-by...

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

Most likely scenario is a popped expansion joint on the bridge~ that's an old one too, pre 60's.
Fortunately no oilers or chemicals- just empty wheat grain cars. Once the TSB gets done with it, we'll know more.

Doc Sharptail

TSB released their report Friday.
Air brakes frozen in 15 mph yard zone.
The brakeman couldn't get her slowed down enough...

I had brakes freeze up & it wasn't much fun. The work around was to set a little air and drag the train with light brakes set to warm the wheels so brake pads would 'grab'. 15 MPH wouldn't generate heat very quickly that way.

When it got -10 or colder trains didn't move much - couldn't pump enough air to release brakes. Car dept guys would walk the train with spray bottles & sprayed water would seal air leaks at couplings... most of the time.

Dumping alcohol in the train line was helpful, too. Cold weather railroading - I do NOT miss it! SW
