"Smena" camera kit popular for its low price. The two and three lens stereoscopic cameras required a separate cable release for each lens which might be tricky. The last pic shows "Made in USSR" which indicates it was available for import here. SW

Interesting. First camera suffers from serious between the lens elements fungus.
First 2 camera models look to be 620 format. I really likes the looks of the bakelite body on the second camera.

Interesting condenser enlarger in the big group set. I had one much similar with a straight column and unvented head. It's lens was a real pussy cat- an old f 2 Schneider-Kreuznach that we'll never see the likes of again.
I really like the easel pictured seperately. The weighted tangs must be really nice to work with...

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

The F-6 film camera was discontinued in late december.
That is the last made in Japan nikon body.
There is a bit of talk on photo forums about "end" of an era, but not a whole lot.
The rest of it's all gonna be made in Taiwan, or elsewhere.
Next money I come into, I should at least try for a D/F body before they are all gone.
I have little interest (yet) in auto focusing cameras...

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

Probably not a Nikon but it fits here as well as anywhere.

I don't think that car makes a very good tripod... and the
field of view can't amount to much. I'm trying to think of a reason
for it and not coming up with anything. SW

Looks like a cullman tripod at the front.
Stadium vibe to it.
Looks like a Graflex dark slide in the photog's hands, probably one of the Graphic series.
On a 4" X 5" speed graphic, that lens would be about 6000 or 8000 mm. Note sighting tube on top of lens.
Most of the heavy casing is probably for the lens, which was very likely Life Magazine property.

The wagon looks like a '63 Ford...

Might have been Kennedy or Johnson opening the baseball season?

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

Here's Ansel Adams doing his thing from the roof of a Ford Woodside wagon.
From what I can see, the car roof top tripod is put to use for perspective, rather than stability.

Not Nikon at all but still an interesting look at production line camera assembly. SW

Those sort of qualify as Nikon. ;)
The earlier Canon range finders used lenses made by Nippon Kogaku K.K., better known as Nikkor.
By the time the P went into production in 1959, Canon was already building their own lenses.
Leica M-39 screw-mount for these "Populaire" cameras.

Doc Sharptail

An assortment of enlargers. I got into a darkroom on the cheap and just had a diffusion enlarger. Good enough for RR work, it was! SW

I never got much into the enlarger debate.
Found the condenser head easier to focus with a grain magnifier, so ran with them.
Work with poly-contrast papers was easier with a color head- almost always the diffuser type.

On another board I frequent, enlarger lenses are being used with APSC and full frame digital cameras. That must be a tricky lens adapter

The safe light at lower left must have been a nice one...

Doc Sharptail

I have a Vivitar 80mm 5.6 (Schneider Coponon S) enlarging lens. I put it on a graflex camera that used the cut film back. It made beautiful black and white photos. I only did just a few just to see how it would function as a camera lens. Always wanted to do more with it.

Doc, Can you tell if this TLR is a Rollei? I tried enlarging the pic but no luck. SW

Finally found it.

Your photo is hard to find away from Pinterest.

Image

This may have been Rollei's first attempt at a coupled meter.
Interestingly enough, they went for full auto exposure with this model.
I don't think they were available for very long.
Jackie's picture with it was probably taken in '61 or '62.

Rollei Magic ~ indeed :P

I scored a Mamiya C3 and C330 for cheap at a garage sale - never had much luck with them. I think I still have some 220 Tri-X in the freezer from that. SW

She actually had a bit of an interesting history as a photog.
She started out with a Speed graphic for her newspaper reporting. She also owned the meterless "C" 2.8 Rolleiflex. There is debate about her last camera. I am inclined to believe it was a Rollei SLX 35 mm slr, but could be wrong.
She was well known for "borrowing " cameras for a quick snap or 2 when someone else was taking photos of her. The famous Nikon F on a yacht pic of her was one such case. That may also be the case with this pic. She certainly knew about exposure and had a better than usual mastery of it. Her 6 X 6 photos certainly show it.

My college roomie had C-330 and took some outstanding photos with it. It's lenses were not that great in high contrast/ harsh lighting situations. Completely different story with good flash equipment, though.

Doc Sharptail

Long range camera gear. I'm not sure if the spy rig has a Leica on it. Pics are from a photoset of KGB equipment. SW
