This is at the mouth of Netley Creek. River is almost 3 miles wide at this point.

Coffer Curtain dam at Lockport.  Original purpose was to maintain navigable water levels for commercial shipping between Winnipeg and Lake Winnipeg. The ship lock is being dredged in fore-ground. She silts up pretty bad every spring.  There's a look at 3 open curtains. There's a lot of rain water passing through the dam. We've had quite a bit over the last 10 days or so.  There's a look downstream of the dam. A line of thunder storms have just passed through, and the sky has that strange post storm purple cast to it... Regards, Doc Sharptail |

thanks , very fun photos , used to navigate the mississippi lock and dams back in the days , have not been through one in near thirty years |

 There's a view of the lock from the south side of the dam, circa 1936. The roadway used to open as shown for "four piper" sized barges. From the bit I've been able to dig up, the cantilever bridge was made into conventional bridge around 1955 or so... Regards, Doc Sharptail |

 Construction of the Norwood bridge in the city, 1931. Another cantilever type. Hoist house windows on center support. I need to delve into local history. I sort of suspect un-realized plans to bring ship traffic from the port of Churchill. There were 2 others in town with huge counter weights that were mounted over the road way....  I'm not entirely convinced that this photo is on the Lake. It looks an awful lot like Netley Creek. Could be Hecla with Black Island in the back-ground, but the trees look like the wrong type for Black Island... 1890. Refrigerator barge probably filled with Lake Whitefish and ice.
