Big Doe on the west side of the creek. Tips of her ears are about 6'0" off the ground.
I've seen several racked bucks in the same location this summer that are actually a bit smaller than this doe.... This is in a suburban area with a lot of houses and people around.

When fishing Sturgeon Creek, it's a good idea to keep an eye on the tackle box for un-intended ;) live bait. Black dragon fly just out of molt. He chose the black lures in my box to sit at to dry off his wings...

He was just newly molted, and needed a place to sit and dry off his wings.
I didn't bother him, and he was gone 20 min later.
Never had much luck with live insect bait...

Clubtail dragonfly. Did you see the nymph crawl out of the water or up a reed?

I was set up about a foot from shoreline.
Lots of ways for him to get up including reeds.
Looked for a nymph shell briefly but didn't find it.
My attention is always (almost) on the water surface looking for baitfish activity. That's where I drop my plugs or grubs....

Contrast study and lighting check for the film cameras. Dense over cast yet again.
The little p&s Canon sure tries hard  ...

Phone pic edited to B&W. The auto-color looked really bland and low contrast due to heavy over-cast.

Ice is no where near off yet- it's still 8" thick in the back-ground.

If it would warm up a little before the 30th, I could still take a few walleye on last year's license...

Our closure is from Mar. 30th to the friday closest to the 15th of May.
Six weeks seems a little long for a spawner allowance, but the walleye have never been punctual on a fixed schedule....

At least I have the car running again. Hoping for a pit session in the next few days. I'd like to get out by mid-week and nail some paper and cans...
