My cousin sent me these pictures of a neighborhood cat that came up onto somebody's back deck. I don't think this guy is going to be satisfied with kitty stars.

In the northwest, we call these a cougar. In the southwest, they call them a puma. In California, they call them a mountain lion. I used to drive around the state a bit when I worked for the CAL ARNG, and one time I was driving an Army sedan from Long Beach to Camp San Luis Obispo on the central California coast. I didn't always take the fastest route on these trips, as I liked to see different parts of the country. On this trip, I crossed the Carrizo Plain on Highway 58 and went into the Los Padres National Forest. As I was pulling up the hills, a mountain lion bounded out in front of the car, across the road and into the brush before I could even take a long look at him. A very big cat.

Dogs come in all shapes and sizes due to breeding practices over the years. But think about cat shapes. They are all basically the same shape, the only difference is in size.

we have sometimes had sightings here in mid-lower tenn. my nieghbor has a pic with TWO in in....and one is solid black! 10yrs ago i had one at the end of the street here, and i went to look....but that is a story for another day :-o
the wife saw one here one evening........last year.
they have a BIG territory, traveling hundreds of mile in their circuit. we have footprints and stuff sometimes.....one neighbor nearly lost his 80# german sheperd dog to one.....the vet sewed him back up....hundreds of stiches....he looked like a shredder had run over him......

strange thing is, we had found last year, a black bear tracks too :? :-o so i guess stuff rambles around in the dark at night and we never REALLY know what the dogs are barking at..........

needless to say, we both carry something if we need to go outside at night :!:

Couple slugs from a 10 bore double and no more cute little animals will disappear.
