The first of my Grandfather's guns arrived, beginning with the Parker Shotguns.
I need to be begin by thanking John and Colleen Wick, of Sure Shot Firearms, 3721 325th Ave., N.W., Cambridge, MN 55008. (Sure_Shot_Firearms@msn.com - GB Sellers - Stick58 A+(100)) who agreed to pack and ship these rifles for just a few dollars over actual cost as a courtesy to my 85 year old uncle and out of respect for bringing a family collection back together. Good, honest, fair people.
Gun #1 is a Parker 12 gauge, GH grade, SN# 83376, built on a 1 and 1/2 size frame with 30" Damascus barrels. Wood finish is still very nice with only handling marks. Blue is about 30%. Crisp, fully functional, well cared for. This was my Great Grandfather's gun, bought in 1895, passed down to my Grandfather, who used it throughout his adult life and then passed it to his son, who in turn passed it to me. I haven't determined the value.
Gun #2 is a Parker 20 gauge, VH grade with 28" Vulcan steel barrels. Wood finish is about 80% with handling marks. Barrel blue is about 80%. A period recoil pad added. This was my Grandfather's shotgun as a boy (1901) until he was old enough to start carrying his father's larger gun (above). He passed it to his son (my uncle), who passed it to me.
