Here is my Garand carbine. The idea came from Jim Thompson 1st Garand book. The receiver is a CIA [Lithgow?]. The barrel is a Citadel in .308, cut down to 17 inches. The overall length is about 38 3/8 inches. The barrel free floats from the receiver. The stock is a Fajen from the early 90's. The only modification made to the stock is a little relieving to the barrel channel where the stock ferrule/op-rod guide is attached. The tube seen exiting from the stock, guides the movement of the shortened op-rod. Recharging the chamber is by manual pull back of the op-rod by hand, ala, Swiss K-31, except the op-rod spring returns the bolt and next cartridge and puts the rifle into battery. It is still a heavy rifle [thick stock], my next change may be a composite stock. I have not shot it as yet. I would appreciate any critical comments or advice.
