....first pic below I shot from the aft deck of the Saratoga preparing to get on a Liberty Launch going to Fleet Landing where we were met by a bus to take us to see Pompeii,followed by a trip to the top of the volcano Vesuvius-which I'm sure you all know wiped out Pompeii in 79 A.D.....it was early morning just after sunrise....you can see Vesuvius rising from the morning mist.....




.....later in the afternoon after the Pompeii tour we headed up the slopes of Vesuvius,but the weather was turning crappy....fog and clouds were so thick nearing the top the bus driver had to stop and wait for things to clear a bit-as he could not see 10 feet ahead of where we were driving.....we got out of the bus,and as I turned and looked behind be I saw below us the Bay of Naples in a hole of the cloud deck....if you look closely you can see the carrier as the longest skinny thing in the bay on the left....camera went 'click'.....................
